Congratulations on your upcoming book Terry and so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I have a question for you and your followers. If I want to introduce your work to my book club - which book would folks recommend? We need some levity in out lives!! Thank you. 🙏
Thanks, Maryann. As for your book club, you try The Best Laid Plans—where it all started, Up and Down—perhaps my personal favourite, or Poles Apart—my feminist comic novel. Happy to Zoom into your book club for the discussion.
True this... Best Laid Plans was truly laugh out loud for me the first time I read it, and several times thereafter. In fact, I truly love what I am calling "the Angus trilogy" and recommend them often, giving them away as gifts. Enjoy!
It might depend on what kind of a club it is and where discussions tend to go. I'd agree with Terry's suggestion of Best Laid Plans, partly because Parliament doesn't have much profile in literature, and it raises interesting issues. Also, it's an intro to Terry's oeuvre. And congratulations to Terry, you have an oeuvre!
I am so very sorry to hear about your friend and bandmate, Art. What a loss to you, and the world.
Chester Basin is a beautiful spot in a beautiful province. I was born and raised in Lunenburg and am partial (and biased!!) to the South Shore. How wonderful that you take the opportunity to get 'down east' to relax and reconnect.
It was a pleasure getting to interview you in Sutton last week Terry! We could have listened to your stories all night! Will be at Blue Heron on Sept 16 to see you and get my copy of “The Marionette”. Have a good rest meantime.
You have such a wealth of personal history that it's no wonder your books are such a success. Your writing life goes hand in hand with life experience. Of course, your writing talent rules supreme! So looking forward to The Marionette.

Other subscribers should jump in with their suggestions, too.
Just finished “Poles Apart” and loved it! Feminist p.o.v. with a rivetting plot point towards the end that pulls it all together
. loved it!

Years ago now, members of my book club were unanimous in agreeing that every Canadian should read The Best Laid Plans.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, Terry. I can't imagine...
Looking forward to the new book. I was hoping to make it to an event again down there this fall, but it doesn't look like my schedule will allow it.
