I hear you met a few NOWW members in Sudbury -- very cool! I love when literary worlds collide... (But then, that's what festivals are all about, right?)
Such a great experience, though I imagine all these festivals are a bit of a whirlwind.
Interesting post, Terry. So good to see you yesterday in London. A wonderful afternoon with just the right balance of information, humour and good old-fashioned entertainment! Thanks for the shoutout, too.
Actually, I have recorded both songs and they play automatically in the audiobook when they come up in the story.. you can listen to both recordings in this earlier Substack post. Just scroll down a bit in the post and you can play them. https://terryfallis.substack.com/p/a-new-season-in-bookstores-august
Terry, on the topic of AI, I have the foreboding feeling that its proponents, deep down, just want to eliminate their dependence on human labour and services, with no regard for the social consequences. I don't feel that there is enough public alarm over the potential harm from AI.
With respect to the ongoing and rapidly increasing threat of AI in ‘producing’ and pirating creators’ intellectual property, we writers of all stripes need to take steps to mediate and protect against these erosions of our rights and the gradual corruption of legitimate contributions to Canadian Cultural values. The Canadian Authors Association recently released a press notice of our views and efforts to deal with this ongoing issue. See: https://canadianauthors.org/national/advocacy/media-releases/
It was nice to meet you at Wordstock, Terry, and hear your humour masterclass. It was interesting to see names applied to things that have made me laugh! And hear the recording of your song that evening.
And I’m sorry I never found you when I had my copy of your latest novel in my backpack. Perhaps I’ll be able to get that book or some future title signed if you ever get up to TBay again!
Tanner and Fallis.
It's a good thing.
SKH xo

Yes I did! Small world. Hope you’re well!
Hi Terry,
I would have loved to hear you sing. Why not put your songs out on iTunes? They are beautiful.

Great to see you and Ron. Sorry about misspelling your name !
Such a beautiful song. Please record it and put it out there.

Thanks so much, Marion. Great to connect in Sudbury. Here’s hoping I make it back to Thunder Bay!
