Terry, nice to know of this OBOC concept. Your post suggests, as you often put it, you’re just lucky enough to get picked, year upon year. But knowing how hard you work at promoting your books, it seems likely you’ve had a hand in reaching out to these libraries and their OBOCs. Maybe you could go beyond the books Ah shucks disclaimers and tell us how you get their attention.
I’m reminded of Stephen Leacock’s famous quote, (not Mark Twain): ‘I don’t believe in luck, but I find, the harder I work, the more of it I have.’

Congratulations, Terry! I know I shouldn't admit this, but A New Season is my favourite book. It speaks with real emotion and is set in my two favourite cities. I know you'll have a great time with the readers in BC and I know they will enjoy getting to know you.
Thanks for this! I'm a frequent library user here in Ottawa, but had not heard of this program. Tremendous public engagement initiative, and great local creativity abundantly in evidence! Readers crave community although reading is essentially solitary, so this initiative will support reading beyond any of the books involved. A toast to libraries!
Likewise Jack. I’m a local author and some of my books are in the OPL, but I’ve never been able to figure out how to call the attention of OPL members to them. Maybe this OBOC concept can help, as Terry says: win, win, win.
Well done, Terry. I’m actually awaiting your next book. I turned 86 in January, so my time is becoming somewhat limited.

I still have the (now worn) bookmark, Terry.

Community libraries create safe and vibrant spaces!
