Beautifully put. Every once in a while at the opera, a “civilian” would get to come onstage with us in a performance, the result of having won a blind auction or something. The expression of wonder (combined sometimes with sheer terror) on their faces was a reminder of the magic we were creating. Although I walked onstage thousands of times in my career, I was grateful that I never lost that same feeling.
Performing in The Nutcracker with The NBC as a celebrity is good enough, then you got to perform with your son, that's just lovely. I read about it in your Operation Angus, now saw the backstage pictures!
